I am so excited about the new wreath that now graces my front door!
Sweet Bethany from The Fine Line Market sent me the acrylic monogram for it a few months ago and it was like an early Christmas gift! I had seen them floating around the web and was in love with the ones she carries in her shop, dying to have one for myself! I couldn't believe her generosity and was giddy with excitement when she told me she was shipping one to me!
Her shop carries monograms in all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes, to be used for various purposes including wall hangings, cake toppers, jewelry, keyrings, wreath ornaments, etc...but I knew I wanted mine to hang as a wreath on my front door!
After much agonizing over which of the many fabulous colors to choose from, I finally decided on black to compliment the accent colors on the front of our house. Then I had to decide what kind of wreath to put it on, another tough decision. I have seen her red and white monograms on gorgeous evergreen wreaths, but I wanted something that would make the black pop, and yet would still be neutral enough to last through the changing seasons.
So yesterday my friend Kara and I took a little trip to Hobby Lobby, which is in the next town over, about 30 minutes away. Kara, better known as Sew.Hip.Mama, is super creative, so I knew she could help me design a fabulous wreath! Not to mention she helped me get 40% off because she showed me that you can go to the Hobby Lobby website from your phone, click on the coupon and simply show it at checkout to redeem it! Awesome!
First, Kara helped me choose a large grapevine wreath, remembering something she saw on Pinterest where they spray painted one. I needed something big because the monogram itself is 16 inches.
I knew I wanted to find a gray and white polka dot fabric for the wreath because I had seen a pretty gray and white polka dot wreath that I loved over at Tatertots and Jello recently. Kara found an exact match and there was just enough left for my purposes!
Last, we headed over to look at spray paint and I settled on Pewter Gray, a light gray that would make both the monogram and the fabric stand out. As soon as I got home, I spray painted my new wreath. So easy...although it did take a few coats!
After the paint had dried (which did not take long), I simply tied the monogram onto my wreath using a thin ribbon so that it would hang inside it, and then I tied the fabric bow around the top of my wreath. And ta-da! My house now fits in perfectly here in the land of all things Southern Living and Thirty-One...and I happen to be addicted to both, by the way! ;)
What do you think?
I figure if I want to add seasonal color throughout the year, I can always change out the bow and/or add some removable rosettes or pom poms. I could even spray paint it a new color at some point as well. I'm sure I will post pictures anytime I update it!
Be sure to check out The Fine Line Market. Bethany has a variety of fabulous products, including stationary, stamps, crosses, jewelry and iPhone covers, in addition to the monograms, and she is so delightful to work with, you will not be disappointed! I ordered our Christmas cards from her and I got so many compliments on them, they turned out fantastic! She has been a huge supporter of our ministry and I just love her, I know you will too!
