mom2mom {linky party}: Leprechaun Handprints!

This week’s mom2mom {linky party} is just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! You all know that I LOVE a handprint craft, especially one that doesn’t require any special materials! We had all of the materials for this at home, and actually did it while our power was out yesterday afternoon! What a great way to keep a toddler happy during a thunderstorm and power outage. :)

To make this leprechaun handprint, you’ll need:

• white paper (we used watercolor paper because it’s a little thicker and holds up well to wet paint)
• peach paint (I mixed a little orange, white, and pink paint because we didn’t have peach)
• orange paint
• small pieces of green and yellow paper

You’ll also need a cute child to help you out!

To make the leprechaun, paint your child’s fingers orange. (We found that it looked best to NOT paint the thumb.) Paint their palm peach with a thin strip of orange at the “base” of the palm.

Press your child’s hand onto the paper, making sure to press each finger and their palm down to transfer the paint. Be patient as this may take several tries to get it just right. It took us about 4 tries to get it the way we wanted it to look.

Wait for the handprint to dry! While you’re waiting, you can cut out the green hat and yellow “coin” for the middle of the hat.

When the handprint is dry, add a face with a black marker. Glue the hat and coin onto your paper and you’ve made a leprechaun!
