{Hope for the Home}: Making Scripture Visible in Our Homes **giveaway** CLOSED!!!

Thanks for stopping by! We are a blog about faith, family and fitness...feel free to take a look around! While you are here, check out our 12 Ways to Keep Easter Alive All Year Long post. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, surrounded by loved ones! Happy Spring, friends! It is my favorite time of the year!!!

Hi there, readers!  I’m excited to be posting here at Worthy of the Prize today in Erin’s {Hope for the Home} series.  I love that she has created a series for moms to encourage us to be intentional during our day about creating conversations about God.  One of the ways that I choose to be intentional is to have God’s Word visible in our home. I am consistently encouraged (and convicted) by God’s instruction to us in Deuteronomy 6:5-9:
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.  You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.  You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates
My husband, Scott, and I took this commandment quite literally when we remodeled our home in 2010 and actually wrote verses (using permanent markers) on the concrete floors of each room of our home.  It was an awesome reminder to us as parents, and a witness to Grayson and the men who laid the flooring throughout our home.
Another way that I take this verse is to have Scripture displayed throughout my house.  They are a good reminder to me as I’m going through the motions of my day.  It’s about being purposeful with what my family looks at and being surrounded by God’s Word.  What better thing to be surrounded by?!
In order to be intentional with this Easter season in surrounding our home, I designed a free printable of Matthew 28:5-6 to share with you!  It’s an 8x10 print that you can save and print at home or your favorite photo printer.

Because this is my first Hope for the Home post, I’d love to do a little giveaway!  I have created a “He is Risen” printable banner to display in your home throughout this Easter season.  The banner is currently in my shop, but I’m giving one away here!

I have 2 plaques on a bookshelf in my living room. One says, "Be Still and Know That I am God." and the other says, "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." People constantly comment on them. I used to have small group in my house and a lady once commented that every night she came in and sat down and looked at the Be Still plaque and it helped her focus after her day at work. Scripture is such a comfort. Keep doing all you do MJ. Great job.

Our church came to our house when it was being built and wrote scripture above all the doors and on all the wall posts and on the concrete floor while it was just the studs! Afterward, all the men working on the house . . . hanging the sheetrock, installing the central unit, etc commented on the scripture. It was so meaningful to us! I just found your blog! I love it and the printables! Have a wonderful Easter!

I love the He is Risen banner, but I wish it would print horizontally, so it would be larger. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed Easter.

1 Corinthians 12 4-8 love is patient, love is kind is printed on a huuuuge canvas in our master bedroom. We read it almost daily when we awake or go to sleep. The best is when we've had a fight and my eye catches a small part of this powerful verse as if God was in the room with me. Love this post and agree that scripture is an amazing gift to have on the walls anywhere in the home.
