“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the
government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
As I reflect on the magnitude of today, Jesus' birthday, I am so thankful that He came. Emmanuel, God with us. He wrapped Himself in flesh and gave us the greatest gift of all, His presence. He didn't leave us to fend for ourselves. He came to save us. What an overwhelming reality.
And now that the presents are unwrapped, the gifts have been opened, the food has been eaten and the church services attended, I am comforted knowing that it doesn't end here. We have access to Him and His wise counsel all year long. He is always with us. All we have to do is seek Him.
"And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord." (Isaiah 11:2)
